Wrapping up Christmas

Christmas marketing

Time to review, celebrate, prepare and relax, as you wind up 2019

This time of year is all about Christmas, holidays and closing off the year in preparation for a fresh start next year

Ticklist for wrapping up Christmas

What Christmas events have you got planned and who do you want to thank?

  1. Who has contributed to your business and made a big difference? What should you be celebrating and who with?
  2. You may want to include the children of your customers or your staff in company festivities. Christmas is a time for families and that often includes children.
  3. For different businesses, the Christmas period is a peak time or a trough time. What have you done to effectively manage this?
  4. To increase sales, what can you do that will engage your target market in a way that stands out from the rest of the Christmas festivities and promotions?
  5. What plans have you put in place to ensure your business has the appropriate staff and service cover throughout this period?

Making the most of the last of 2019

Strategising now will help get you through the financial lull of the Christmas period that many businesses face and also ease you into 2020.

  1. Who are the key prospects you want to develop for next year? What are you doing about this?
  2. What do you want to achieve next year and is there an opportunity at Christmas and during the holiday season to give your business a head start?
  3. What do you certainly not want to repeat next year?

Write down the answers to this list so you can measure your successes and build on this next year. Have a ‘Christmas Plan’ file that you refine each year.

On a final note, keep in mind that some of your customers - and even some of your staff - may not celebrate Christmas. However, this time of year is still an opportunity to recognise their contributions and support in some way. Simply adjust your message where it is practical to do so, to wish them a happy holiday, best wishes for the New Year or a "thank you for being a great customer".
