Coaching a New Generation

Throughout 2016, Synthesis Marketing has been working very closely with The Open Polytechnic of New Zealand to develop several marketing papers for their online Bachelor of Business course.
Our relationship with New Zealand’s Open Polytechnic involves us writing and reviewing three marketing papers in total, these are:
  • Digital Marketing
  • Marketing Management
  • Special Topic in Marketing

The Open Polytechnic is New Zealand’s leading, distance and online learning provider.

Delivering courses, both here and abroad, they focus on achieving student success for over 31,000 students each year. At its core, The Open Polytechnic is flexible as a distance and online learning institution, enabling students to gain the skills they need to enter the workforce and progress in their careers.

Differentiating themselves:

To stand out from universities, the polytechnic’s vision has always been to provide useful, hands on skills for employment. They were looking for brand new courses that provided relevant, practical industry knowledge and learning. The Open Polytechnic turned to the longest running marketing consultancy company in New Zealand, Synthesis Marketing.

It’s important to us that New Zealand Polytechnic’s students graduate with hands on skills

This enables them to find work and add value to their employers from day one.  With the well-known skills shortage as well as the rapid changes in the whole marketing industry business owners need greater access to skilled employees who can apply current marketing approaches to deliver business results. Plus, given the NZ economy is very much made up of small and medium sized businesses, graduates need to know how to apply these modern marketing techniques in these types of businesses. Therefore, these papers not only contain the fundamentals of marketing, but also insider tools that make our jobs, as marketers, easier.

Here’s some of the areas we cover in these papers:

  • Digital Marketing strategy
  • Using social media for marketing
  • The role and opportunity for big data in Marketing
  • Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality as a marketing tool
  • Affiliate marketing
  • Website apps and cloud based marketing tools
  • Measuring marketing results
  • SEO
  • Google advertising
  • Website design
  • And much, much more
Must have skills for the Digital Marketer
