Coaching a New Generation | Digital Marketing
Throughout 2016, Synthesis Marketing worked with The Open Polytechnic of New Zealand to develop several marketing papers for their online Bachelor of Business course.

Standing out from the pack
To stand out from universities, the polytechnic’s vision is to provide useful, hands on skills for employment. They needed a marketing course that would provide relevant, practical industry knowledge and learning. The Open Polytechnic turned to the longest running marketing consultancy company in New Zealand, Synthesis Marketing.
Helen Down and Dianne Pulham developed three marketing papers:
- Digital Marketing
- Marketing Management
- Special Topic in Marketing
We believe that students should graduate with hands on skills
This enables them to find work and add value to their employers from day one. With the well-known skills shortage and rapid changes in the digital marketing, business owners need greater access to skilled employees who can deliver ROI.
Given that New Zealand’s economy is made up of small and medium sized businesses, graduates need to know how to apply marketing techniques on a small budget. In these papers. Helen and Dianne not only cover the fundamentals of marketing, but divulge the tools that make their jobs easier and keep costs down.
Some of the areas we cover:
- Digital marketing strategy
- Using social media for marketing
- The role and opportunity for big data in Marketing
- Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality as marketing tools
- Affiliate marketing
- Website apps and cloud based marketing tools
- Measuring marketing results
- SEO
- Google advertising
- Website design
